PPS reimagines the traditional single-room occupancy (SRO) model as a contemporary, community-oriented housing typology designed to support dignity, well-being, and connection. Located in the Bronx, the development will provide 106 thoughtfully designed residential units that balance private living with shared amenities to foster a supportive and engaging residential environment.

Each unit includes a private bathroom and an integrated convenience nook equipped with a microwave, mini refrigerator, cabinetry, and counter space. Shared kitchens and communal spaces further extend the home, encouraging interaction, mutual support, and community-building among residents while maintaining a strong sense of privacy.

The building is designed to Passive House standards, incorporating solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and windows that open fully to support natural ventilation. Together, these systems enhance energy efficiency, improve indoor air quality, and promote year-round occupant comfort while reducing environmental impact.

By combining efficient unit design, shared social infrastructure, and sustainable building systems, the project offers a scalable housing model that responds to New York City’s urgent housing needs while prioritizing health, resilience, and long-term livability.
