SCOPE
Affordable Housing Renovation
Dona Rosita II is a five-story residential building constructed in 2005 that provides 60 units of critically needed supportive housing in Brooklyn’s historic Bronzeville neighborhood.
The building is slated to undergo a comprehensive rehabilitation designed to significantly improve resident comfort, building performance, accessibility, and long-term sustainability. Planned upgrades include modernization of the heating and cooling systems with high-efficiency equipment intended to improve indoor comfort. Interior lighting throughout the building will be replaced with energy-efficient fixtures to lower utility costs and enhance the quality of shared and private spaces.
Additional improvements will include the installation of low-flow plumbing fixtures to support water conservation efforts and reduce operating expenses. Accessibility enhancements throughout the building will help accomodate residents of varying mobility and ensure they can age in place. Interior finishes will also be updated with durable, healthy, and contemporary materials selected to create a more welcoming living environment for residents.
As part of the rehabilitation, substantial building envelope improvements will be undertaken, including the replacement of existing windows and roofing assembly. These measures are expected to improve thermal performance, reduce air infiltration, and contribute to lower energy usage and improved year-round indoor comfort.
The project is being financed through the Moderate Rehabilitation Program administered by the NYC HPD. This investment reflects the City’s continued commitment to preserving affordable supportive housing and improving the quality, sustainability, and resiliency of existing residential buildings throughout New York City.
