SCOPE
Supportive Housing Preservation
828 Washington Avenue is an 8-unit OMH Supported Housing building in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, operated by the Institute for Community Living (ICL). Originally constructed in 1920, the four-story row-house provides permanent homes for 14 individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, with ground-floor program offices and cellar-level support space.
The current renovation addresses building-wide capital needs including full roof replacement, masonry repairs and waterproofing at both façades, window replacement with high-performance units, and fire escape restoration. Interior work includes unit kitchen and bathroom upgrades, common area finish replacement, and stair tread realignment. MEP improvements include a new heat pump water heater, low-flow plumbing fixtures, upgraded fire suppression, and a new fire alarm system.
